Looking for fresh flavours this spring? Zesty lemon makes a great accompaniment to healthy lunches and dinners, and of course, forms the basis for some great tasting desserts.
Not only that, but lovely lemons are also packed with vitamin C, which plays several important roles in the body, such as:
- Helping to protect cells and keeping them healthy
- Maintaining healthy skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage
- Helping with wound healing
According to the NHS, adults aged 19 to 64 need 40mg of vitamin C a day. Vitamin C can't be stored in the body, which means you need it in your diet every day.
So where can you find it? Vitamin C is found in a wide variety of fruit and vegetables including:
- Oranges and orange juice
- Red and green peppers
- Strawberries
- Blackcurrants
- Broccoli
- Brussels sprouts
- Potatoes
From zesty lemon & herb chicken to lemon meringue pie, we've got sweet and savoury citrus recipes you'll love this spring.
