Whitney lost 26 lbs*

*At 6 months, participants in a clinical trial of the WW weight-loss program lost an average of 9.7 lbs (5% of body weight). And, people who track their food more often lose more weight. When actual WW members track their food at least two times a week for 6 months they lose on average 16.6 lbs. (7.9% body weight). Whitney lost weight on a prior program and is continuing on WeightWatchers.

In Whitney’s words:
In 2016, I skipped a childhood friend’s wedding because I was ashamed of the way I looked. That finally made me realize that I wanted to change for good. I didn’t want to miss out on important milestones with my husband, kids, and friends because I didn’t feel good about myself. I went back to WW and I vowed to stay for more than six weeks. I was motivated, and I just kept going.

The path to balance

Fun with Freestyle
I can honestly say that I’ve never felt as free as I do with WW. I love to cook, so it’s been great experimenting with new recipes. I’ll go to the pantry and say, “OK, I have canned corn, chicken breasts, and some spices — I’ll make a Mexican-inspired meal tonight.” Sometimes my two daughters will pull out an ingredient like marinated artichokes, and we’ll figure out how to make a meal from that. It’s a game for us — we’ve created so many new recipes.

Parenting on the program
My younger daughter has so much energy! Now I’m able to keep up with her. And I’m now more equipped to talk to my older girl about body image issues that teenage girls face. Having a healthy body image is essential during this time in her life. I try to show both my children that loving your body means truly taking care of it, and a lot of that has to do with the way you eat and the way you exercise.

How Whitney’s success with WW has improved her life

Feeling confident
On my WW journey, I’ve come to realize how important mental wellness is to a healthy life. I’ve struggled with body image issues for years, and the effects went beyond my appearance. I didn’t believe in myself. I didn’t believe that I could follow through on a task and be successful. After I pinpointed this, I realized that I need to focus on the journey, not the destination. And that let me change the course of my life and feel like myself again.

Mindful health
During my journey, I’ve realized that wellness includes the mental, physical, and spiritual—and that they’re all tied together. The journey may begin with food, but pay attention to what you’re putting into your body, you start feeling better, and then you begin to find this peace in your life. WW has made me realize that self-care must be part of my daily routine so I can continue to be the best possible mom, wife, and human being.
