Kristen’s Healthy Union
Kristen lost 99 lbs*
People following the WeightWatchers weight-loss program can expect to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. Kristen lost weight on a prior program and is continuing on WeightWatchers. Watch Kristen’s journey of creating a healthy home for her family in the video below.
In Kristen’s words:
A few months before my wedding to my husband, Paul, I was on Instagram, and I started scrolling through my photos. I didn’t like way I looked or felt. Our wedding was coming up, and I was afraid to try on wedding dresses. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I started to search for WW members on Instagram. I wanted
to look and feel better, and the posts I found inspired me to join.
Becoming partners in health
Setting up a healthy environment
During the first few weeks, I really focused on cooking and eating at home. Luckily, Paul was on board, too, and he was so supportive of my journey. We searched online for healthy recipes to make. We’d use the WW app at the grocery store to scan barcodes to find healthy snacks that we’d enjoy. We spent a lot of time researching how to make the program work for our lives.
Planning our week
Thanks to all the prep we do over the weekend, we can handle all the busy days during the week. Even if it’s a packed day, we’ll cook a healthy meal because we have all the ingredients and we’ve already planned our menu for the week. If we do go out to eat, we’ll plan for it and make the right choices. We live in Texas so we love barbeque: Instead of brisket and a loaded baked potato, we’ll have a smoked turkey sandwich and corn on the cob. It’s so yummy!
Pizza party
I’ve always loved pizza, and that hasn’t changed. While we still order pizza, I’ll save up my WeightWatchers for two slices instead of four. We’ve also figured out how to make healthy, homemade pizzas at home. All we need is pita bread and marinara sauce, and we let the kids add their own toppings like low-fat cheese, turkey pepperoni, and vegetables. These mini pizzas are so delicious!
How Kristen’s success with WW has improved her life
Early riser
Paul and I worked together to get on a fitness schedule. Since we have two children, we both couldn’t go at the same time. I decided that I’d go at 5 a.m. and Paul would go after work. At first, getting up so early in the morning was tough! To stay accountable, I posted a shot of my alarm set for 4:40 a.m. on Instagram. Because I did that, I knew I had to get up in the morning and get to the gym. I couldn’t let down my 5,000 followers!
A healthy bond
Getting healthy together has made me and my husband’s relationship stronger. We make all our choices together. We’ll head to the grocery store together, go on walks with our family, and shop for a new wardrobe as a couple. We are living one amazing life, and we want to continue following these healthy habits far into the future.
