Brighten up happy hour and raise your glass with this delicious take on classic sangria. This variation calls for fresh cherries, apples and thyme which pairs beautifully with whiskey, another other unexpected addition. The combination of the sparkling water and ginger ale gives this refreshing beverage the right amount of sweetness and fizz. This is a great boozy beverage to serve at parties—it's mixed in a pitcher so you can let guests pour themselves a drink while you mingle. Set out the cocktail glasses, an ice bucket and fresh thyme sprigs and replenish as needed. You can use your favorite white wine or dry red wine.

Ingredients

Cherries

1¼ cup(s), pitted and halved

Whiskey

4 fl oz, apple variety

Sauvignon blanc white wine

1 bottle(s)

Ginger ale

6 fl oz

Water

16 fl oz, sparkling variety

Apple

1 medium, cored, sliced

Fresh thyme

16 sprig(s)

Instructions

  1. Place cherries in a large, wide mouthed pitcher. Add whisky; muddle with a wooden spoon until cherries have released some of their juice.
  2. Add wine, ginger ale, sparking water, and apple; stir to combine and let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. To serve, take two springs of thyme and curl them around your finger; place in bottom of a serving glass. Add some ice to glass; ladle over some fruit from the pitcher and top with sangria.
