Star anise, a licorice-flavored spice that comes in a pretty star-shaped pod, adds holiday flavor to this deep-red cocktail. Clementines are called for, but any other tangerine or variety of oranges would be lovely, too. Pomegranate seeds can be found in the produce section of most supermarkets, already removed from the fruit. You may have extras left over, perfect for sprinkling on salads or adding to smoothies. They also freeze beautifully, so you can save any leftovers for another day.
