This refreshing sangria is the perfect cocktail recipe for summer entertaining because not only is it served in a pitcher, but you can easily put most of it together the night before. When your guests arrive, all you need to do is add some chilled seltzer water. We call for Rainier cherries, peaches and plums here, but any stone fruit would be delicious. Choose whatever looks best at your market--nectarines, apricots, Bing cherries, or pluots. We call for brandy, but peach liqueur or kirsch would be wonderful substitutes.

Ingredients

White wine

1 bottle(s), (750 milliliters), such as Albariño

Brandy

½ cup(s)

Cherries

1 cup(s), Bing, pitted

Peach

1 large, pitted and thinly sliced

Plum

1 item(s), medium, black, pitted and thinly sliced

Seltzer

2 cup(s), preferably lemon or tangerine flavor, chilled

Instructions

  1. In pitcher, stir wine and brandy. Add cherries, peach, and plum. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or up to overnight.
  2. Just before serving, stir in chilled seltzer. Serve sangria over ice.
  3. Serving size: about 3⁄4 cup without ice
