You may never go back to store-bought balsamic vinaigrette after tasting this simple homemade version.

Ingredients

Shallot

½ cup(s), chopped, finely

Balsamic vinegar

½ cup(s)

Water

6 Tbsp, warm

Dijon mustard

8 tsp

Extra virgin olive oil

8 tsp

Kosher salt

1½ tsp

Black pepper

½ tsp

Xanthan gum

tsp, or add enough to desired consistency (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together shallot, vinegar, water, mustard, oil, salt, and pepper; thicken with xanthan gum (optional).
  2. Serving size: 1 tbsp

Notes

Xanthan gum, a common thickener, is included in this recipe, but you can omit it if you'd like.
