Built by our nutrition and behavioral scientists, just for you
- Tell us about yourself
After joining WeightWatchers, get started in our app and we’ll ask you a few questions, including whether you live with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. If you say yes, our nutritionists know to create a food plan that takes your unique health needs into account.
- Get a custom-designed plan
Our nutritionists also consider your weight, height, and sex (which help us calculate your metabolic rate) to tailor your very own food plan with no-track, no-measure foods that are less likely to raise blood sugar. - Use Points®, however you’d like
Points tally up complex nutritional data into one simple number. It’s like a financial budget, but with food—you spend, you add, you spend some more! But it’s not just set there. It’s built to be flexible for special occasions, favorite meals, and more. Plus, Points guide you toward foods with higher protein, higher fiber, and lower added sugar. These foods are less likely to cause spikes in blood sugar. - Track your blood sugar
This simple tool in the WW app helps you manually track your blood sugar—allowing you to see patterns and changes in blood sugar over time. - Feel confident that you’re on a science-backed program
Your plan is carefully designed with diabetes in mind and based on guidelines from the American Diabetes Association and the International Diabetes Federation. - Form good-for-you habits
Our program helps you eat healthier, drink more water, and get active—all behaviors that help with managing blood sugar. Plus, find delicious recipes in the app (thousands tailored to be appropriate for diabetes) to help you live your plan! - Stay supported

Your top questions, answered
After you sign up and log into the WW app, you’ll see a pop-up message instructing you to answer a few simple questions. When prompted, indicate that you’re living with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Next, you’ll be asked what foods you like to eat most often. You’ll then get a customized nutrition plan with a budget and ZeroPoint® food list, curated specifically for those living with diabetes. Your Points® Budget is like a financial budget, but with food—you spend, you add, you spend some more—and it’s designed to be flexible.
No, it’s simply tailored for members living with diabetes. You’ll still enjoy all aspects of the WeightWatchers program—like coaching, community, recipes, and on-demand workouts—plus a carefully tailored ZeroPoint® food list selected by our nutrition and diabetes experts. You’ll also have access to a blood sugar tracker, allowing you to see patterns and changes in blood sugar over time.
If you have prediabetes, the regular WeightWatchers program is suitable for you. The diabetes-tailored plan is for people who have been told by their doctor or another healthcare provider that they have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
WeightWatchers isn’t designed for people who are pregnant—therefore, the diabetes-tailored plan is not recommended if you have gestational diabetes.
We can’t stress this enough: Our program is not a replacement for a medical provider, and weight loss should never come before health. If your blood sugar is not where it needs to be, continue to monitor it according to your healthcare provider’s recommendations and follow your provider’s guidance on how to stabilize those numbers. We’ll be here to help you eat healthier, move more, and shift your mindset—while living your best life.
