The weight crept on

I’d been slim through my teens and 20s, but when I turned 30, the weight started to creep on. I was wearing a size 22, and hid away in unflattering tracksuits. My mum urged me to do something about my weight, as she could see I was unhappy. Still, it took me a long time to pay attention to what she had to say.

Updating mum on my progress

To be honest, I only joined WW to shut everyone up! Sure, I didn’t like how I looked, but I didn’t think the WW Workshops would work for me, and I thought the experience would be humiliating. But my WW Coach was brilliant, and behind the scenes, Mum encouraged me. I’d text her after every Workshop to update her on my progress – being accountable really helped. Plus, if I ever missed a Workshop, she’d ring to ask why. That was more nerve-wracking than weigh-ins!

Sharing our journey

Soon, Mum decided to join too. It was comforting to share the journey, and we supported one another with healthy, homemade meals and tips we’d learned. Now, we’re both healthier – Mum’s high blood pressure has been reduced and I’ve lost more than 4st – and I’ve found the confidence to become a WW Coach myself. I couldn’t have done any of it without my best friend’s help, and because she’s my mum, it’s been even more special!
