Josh, Workshop + Digital,
Lost 2st*

*People following the WeightWatchers weight-loss programme can expect to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. Josh lost weight on WW Freestyle™.

In Josh’s words:
I started getting very self-conscious about my weight when I went to buy a new pair of jeans and had to size up. It didn’t help when a friend said he didn’t recognise me in a photo.

I felt lethargic and lazy. I didn’t have any confidence and never wanted to leave the house to the point where my kids weren't getting out much either. I’d argue with my fiancée and felt stuck in a dark place.

I knew I had to do something for my fiancée and kids to make sure they’d have a partner and father who’s around in 10 or 15 years.

Josh’s new game plan

I’d tried numerous diets and knew that doing it on my own and wouldn’t get me very far, so when my mum told me she was starting WW, I decided to give it a go with her.

Going to WW Workshops together kept us both on track and created a little healthy competition between us. When I knew I was going to a weigh-in, I was less likely to overindulge.

Tools of the trade
The WW app is the best—especially the 24-hour, seven-days-a-week coaching. One time when I was out for drinks, I asked a coach what to order and got a response straight away.

The app’s barcode scanner makes it really easy to track new products I find at the supermarket—a good thing since the programme has affected the kind of food my entire family eats. Now, we think about what we’re eating.

I also use Connect, where people post about what they cook and how much weight they’ve lost. When I posted a photo, it got over 1,200 likes with loads of people asking for tips and telling me that my journey inspired them.

Embracing exercise
I’m much healthier and more active than I was before beginning the WW programme. I started by taking my little boy down to the beach or going on evening walks with my family. Then one day, I ventured out on my own and it turned into a jog. Now it's become a hobby; I put my headphones in and listen to my favourite music. Every Thursday, I meet up with a running group I found on Facebook, and I’ve made lots of new friends.

How Josh’s success with WW has improved his life

Giving WW a go was the best decision I've ever made—it’s changed my life massively.

I used to get tired from just walking up the stairs. Now I can help out more with household chores and my children. My fiancée and I fight less and get along better. I take the kids to the zoo, play football, and make memories.

I’m still on my journey and have a way to go, but when my son gets older, I’d like to coach his football team. It’s important to keep setting new goals to keep yourself motivated because at the end of the day, you are the only one who can make the change.
