French Toast with Strawberries and Bananas and Honey Drizzle

This easy dessert tastes so indulgent, yet it’s low in fat and good for you. Children love it too!

Ingredients

Raw egg

1 large

Fat-free skim milk

5 fl oz, (1/4 pint)

Vanilla extract

1 tsp(s)

Bread

4 slice(s), medium, crusts removed

Cooking spray

5 spray(s), low-fat

Banana

2 medium

Strawberries

225 gm, (8oz), stalks removed

Powdered sugar (confectioner's)

2 tsp(s)

Honey

4 tsp(s), clear

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, beat together the egg, milk and vanilla extract.
  2. Cut the slices of bread into triangles, then dip them in the egg and milk mixture, leaving them to soak for a few moments, so that the liquid is absorbed.
  3. Heat a large frying pan and spray with low fat cooking spray. Add the soaked bread triangles and cook on both sides until browned. Transfer to four warmed plates.
  4. Slice the bananas and strawberries over each portion. Sprinkle with the icing sugar and drizzle one teaspoon of honey over each portion. Serve at once. A combination of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries tastes delicious too. 3 ½oz of each.
