Chili-garlic sauce adds complex heat to these lettuce wraps, and the sweet-savory combination of roast beef and mango makes them particularly satisfying.

Ingredients

Garlic chili paste

¼ cup(s)

Bibb lettuce

16 leaf/leaves, or green

Fresh lime juice

1 tbsp(s)

Soy sauce

½ tsp(s)

Deli style roast beef slices

¾ pound(s), trimmed and cut into 1/2-inch strips

Table salt

¼ tsp(s)

Carrots

1 large, shredded

English cucumber

1 small, halved lengthwise and sliced

Mango

1 medium, peeled, pitted, and sliced

Uncooked scallions

3 medium, sliced

Cilantro

¾ cup(s), lightly packed fresh

Lime

1 wedge(s), cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. To make sauce, stir together chili-garlic sauce, lime juice, and soy sauce in small bowl.
  2. Lay lettuce leaves on work surface. Divide beef evenly among lettuce leaves and sprinkle with salt. Top evenly with carrots, cucumber, mango, scallions, and cilantro; roll up to enclose filling. Serve with sauce and lime wedges.
  3. Serving size: 4 wraps and about 1 tablespoon sauce

Notes

Shopping tip: Made from a mix of chilies, garlic, salt, and vinegar, chili-garlic sauce can be found in supermarkets in the Asian-food aisle and in specialty-food stores. Add a small amount to marinades, sauces, and dips for some spiciness.
