"I feel so much more confident knowing I have built healthy lifestyle choices into my routine that I will follow for the rest of my life."
Hi Weight Watchers! I'm LeighAnna! I am so excited to share my journey with you today!
In 2013, I married my husband, and we bought our first house in Pickering, ON. However, shortly after, I suffered a back injury which led to having surgery in Jan 2015. While being off work and injured, I turned to food as my comfort, thus putting on additional weight. I joined WW in Oct 2014 with a goal to lose 20lbs before my surgery and have been in love ever since. I love the Weight Watchers program and am so grateful because it helps me lead a happier and healthier lifestyle. The support of the WW community is amazing and I can't wait to read your comments today.
Enjoying the fresh air
The beautiful weather makes me want to be outdoors and the sunshine makes me so happy. I am so blessed to live so close to the local zoo. I purchase a yearly membership and really enjoy wandering around with my friends and watching the animals. It is a great alternative to sitting on a patio and we get to enjoy some fresh air together. It's amazing to see the progress from when I started WW to now; I could barely walk around an exhibit without needing a break or to leave. Now, I can walk around all day and I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated after I leave.
Flavourful food
I love dining out and enjoying a nice meal. The Beyond the Scale program provides a lot of flexibility to enjoy really flavourful food. My favourite food to recreate at home is burrito bowls. For 11 SmartPoints values I had 4oz chicken breast (which was cooked for 4 hours on high in my crockpot with a jar of salsa), 30g light Tex Mex shredded cheese, 1/4 cup of rice, 1/4 cup black beans, 1/4 cup canned corn, 2 tbsp of low fat sour cream and 2 tbsp guacamole! I often garnish my bowl with some cilantro and fresh lime juice. This meal is so filling and provides a lot of protein which helps keep me feeling full for a long time (and helps curb night time snacking).
Exploring new paths
Prior to my surgery, fitness was unimaginable. I could barely walk around my house let alone complete my errands and exercise. I began walking in the mall to get some steps in. At first, I couldn't walk for long but the mall had benches so I could take frequent breaks if I needed. As I recovered from my surgery and worked through my physio plan, I gained more strength. We adopted a puppy which forced me to get outdoors and walk her. I couldn't take her for long walks but we would go out frequently. Now I am hiking and even jogging with her. I love going out on the walking trails and exploring new paths. I recently joined the local gym and attend the group classes like AquaFit and Zumba! I am addicted to earning FitPoints.
Feeling confident
As I lift my feet and sip my tea, I am thankful for sharing my day with our amazing community. The support along my journey from all the members who understand my struggles has been a crucial pillar to my success. Weight Watchers has helped me to create balance and a healthy relationship with food and exercise while adapting to life's daily challenges. Every day is not easy but when I am on plan, tracking, measuring and weighing, I feel so much more confident knowing I have built healthy lifestyle choices into my routine that I will follow for the rest of my life. I encourage you to join if you are thinking about it. I challenge you to get connected to other members and become involved.
