Reflect and refresh
Ready to set yourself some new goals? Or planning to revisit some previous goals that you may have lost sight of along the way?
Taking stock of how you respond to challenges, and learning from your successes can help you hit new goals. Take a look back over the past few months, then use what you've learned to help you reach more milestones.
The how-to
Examine the last three to six months, then create a plan for moving forward.
1. Reflect on your successes
Consider which changes you made quickly and which ones took longer to stick. What did you do to make them happen, and how did those positive steps help you on your journey?
2. Evaluate your challenges
As you did in step 1, think about the things that didn't work for you and what obstacles got in your way. How can you alter your approach next time?
3. Know where you're going
Create a longer-term goal to achieve in two months' time. Visualise what success looks like, how you'll feel, and what you need to overcome to get there.
4. Set a weekly goal
Based on your past successes and challenges, identify a specific step toward your longer-term goal that is truly doable this week. Take into account how you can respond to anything that gets in your way.
You'll discover that once you start taking these weekly steps towards your longer term goal, you'll find it easier to get to where you're going.
