Studded with chopped walnuts and fresh dates, this delicious slice is rich, dark and decadent. A must-try for any chocolate lover!

Ingredients

White self-raising flour

½ cup(s), (75g)

Plain flour

¼ cup(s), (35g)

Cocoa powder

¼ cup(s), (25g)

Rolled oats, dry

cup(s), (30g)

Brown sugar

cup(s), (75g)

Fresh dates

½ cup(s), pitted, coarsely chopped (115g)

Low fat chocolate mousse

2 tub(s), (2 x 62g tubs)

Egg(s)

1 medium, lightly beaten

Olive oil

1 tbs

Skim milk

½ cup(s), (125ml)

Walnuts

cup(s), (35g), chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C. Lightly spray a 20 cm square cake tin with oil. Line base and sides with baking paper.
  2. Sift flours and cocoa into a large bowl. Stir in oats, sugar and dates.
  3. Whisk chocolate mousse, egg, oil and milk in a medium bowl until combined. Stir mousse mixture into flour mixture until well combined.
  4. Spoon mixture into prepared tin and sprinkle with walnuts. Bake for 25 minutes or until cooked in centre when tested with a skewer. Stand slice in tin for 20 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into 16 squares to serve.
