Ingredients

Oil spray

1 x 3 second spray(s)

Plain flour

1 cup(s), (150g)

Cocoa powder

½ cup(s), (50g) Dutch variety

Baking powder

1 tsp

Reduced fat oil spread

60 g, melted

Brown sugar

1 cup(s), (220g)

Egg(s)

2 medium

Apple sauce

¾ cup(s), (185ml)

Vanilla bean extract

2 tsp

Cocoa powder

1 tbs, extra, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180˚C. Lightly spray a 20cm square cake tin with oil and line the base and sides with baking paper.
  2. Sift the flour, cocoa and baking powder into a bowl. Whisk the spread, sugar, eggs, apple sauce and vanilla in a bowl until combined. Stir into the flour mixture until just combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin and spread evenly. Bake for 25 minutes or until moist crumbs cling to a skewer inserted into the centre of the brownie. Stand for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool. Cut into 16 squares. Dust with the extra cocoa.
