Who said potatoes should have all the fun? These apple chips are the perfect sweet snack that deliver on taste and crunch, and are sure to be enjoyed by the whole family.

Ingredients

Red apple, unpeeled

2 large

Maple syrup

2 tsp

Caster sugar

1 tsp

Ground cinnamon

1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 100°C. Line 3 large baking trays with baking paper.
  2. Using a mandoline slicer, cut apples into very thin (1-2mm) slices. Place onto prepared baking trays in single layers. Brush very lightly with maple syrup. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a fine sieve and lightly dust over apple slices. Bake for 1 hour. Remove trays from oven. Carefully turn slices. Bake for a further 1 hour.
  3. Turn oven off and allow apple chips to cool completely in oven. Serve straight away or transfer to an airtight container for extended storage.

Notes

Use a mandoline slicer to cut the apple into wafer-thin slices. They are sold in kitchenware shops, department stores, and online. For optimum crispness, cool apple chips in the oven. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or pre-portion 10 chips in your WW snack box so they are ready to go!
