Serve up this fun, fast spin on a cheeseburger and your family will hail you as a hero. Cooked to juicy perfection before nestling into a cheese-lined hot dog bun, it’s a burger like you’ve never had before—sure to be requested again and again.

Ingredients

Extra lean beef mince, raw

450 g

Brown onion

½ medium, grated

White bread roll

300 g, (buy 4 x 75g hotdog rolls), warmed and split

Light tasty cheese

4 slice(s), (4 x 21g)

Pickle

24 g, (12 x 2g burger pickle slices), drained

American mustard

1 tbs

Oil spray

1 x 3 second spray(s)

Instructions

  1. Place beef and onion in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper and mix until well combined. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a 15cm long sausage shape patty.
  2. Lightly spray a barbecue or non-stick grill pan with oil and heat over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook beef patties for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.
  4. To serve, line each hot dog roll with 1 cheese slice, top with 3 pickles, a beef patty and 1 teaspoon of mustard.

Notes

TO REFRIGERATE: Beef patties can be prepared 1 day ahead. Store in a baking paper-lined reusable container in a single layer until ready to cook. TO FREEZE: Store uncooked beef patties, as above, for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before cooking.
